Most people are basically honest. 大多數人基本是誠實的 。
People are dying of starvation every day. (不用…is dying) 每天都有人死于饑餓 。
people表示“種族”或“民族”時是可數的，可以用通常的方式加s構成復數：
the peoples of South East Asia東南亞各民族
persons非常正式，可用于譬如官方語言中：
He was murdered by a person or persons unknown. 他被不知姓名的人殺害了 。
也可見于正式公告：
This elevator may only carry eight persons. 本電梯限乘八人 。
