視頻托管是意思是將視頻給別人管理 。
視頻托管是國外公司BRIGHTCOVE提出來的，最開始提出來的時候叫做OVP，可以通過這個平臺上傳視頻，并且對視頻進行編輯、轉碼、設置播放器，并且通過平臺的CDN系統將視頻分發到各地 。不需要再自己費錢費力再搭建一個視頻平臺 。
視頻托管主要提供視頻托管、視頻直播、視頻app定制、視頻CDN、直播加速等功能 。其極度簡化了網站主為網站增加視頻功能的步驟 。
