圣誕節假期后剛上班就收到了朋友的好消息朋友三個月前碩士畢業，一直在找工作 。圣誕節前朋友收到面試通知，假期后第一天進行網絡面試 (virtual interview) 。昨天上午朋友信心滿滿地在電腦前面試，面試結束后給我打電話說感覺很好 。沒想到這么快，今天下午朋友就收到了conditional offer，面試的公司發郵件要求朋友盡快去做PRC 。加拿大的辦事效率很低的，從去當地警局申請PRC到拿到結果需要兩到三周的時間 (不過，警局提供有加急服務rush service；加急服務當然要多付申請費了)。那么，PRC指的是什么呢？
首先，可以肯定的是，此PRC非彼PRC (People’s Republic of China). 這個PRC是Police Reference Checkor Police Record Check的首字母縮略詞，意思是無犯罪記錄證明，俗稱 “良民證” 。在加拿大，很多單位在雇新員工或者招義工時要求提交無犯罪記錄證明 。
首字母縮略詞的英語是acronym[??kr?n?m]，是組合每個詞的首字母構成新詞或是專有名詞的形式 。
