意義一致：
1，and連接的兩個詞，相同的一個，單數，不相同的，復數
The dancer and the singer are here 這個舞者和這個歌手在這里
The dancer and singer is here 這個又是舞者，也是歌手的人在這里
2，the+形容詞，表示一類人，謂語動詞用復數，表示一類抽象事物，用單數
The new are here 新人們都在這里
The new is good enough 新的事物總是足夠好的
3，集體名詞，做整體是單數，側重個體，用復數
1，The police are so busy 警察都是很忙的
2，The police is a brave job 警察是一個勇敢的職業 。
4，Population 時，沒有任何修飾時，表示人口，謂語動詞是單數，如果有分數修飾，可以做居民，所以單數，復數皆可
The population of the country is one million 這個國家的人口是一百萬
Two thirds population of the country are/is one million 這個國家三分之二的居民是一百萬
