1. once用作連詞時，意為“一旦……就……”，用于連接時間狀語從句，相當于as soon as 。
如：
Once you start, you will never give up.
一旦你開始了，你就不要放棄 。

注意：once引導的是時間狀語從句，從句要用一般現在時代替將來時 。

2. once用作副詞時，意為“曾經；一度；從前” 。它是一個不確定的時間副詞，其位置一般是在行為動詞之前，系動詞之后 。
如：
