Between and的用法 between 的具體用法

between[a place or time that is before the one(place or time)but after the other]意為介于其間的地方或時間；在其間 。between乍看起來非常容易使用 。但在教學過程中發現許多學生只知道between用于兩個人或兩件事之前 。事實上在現代英語中某些場合between也可用于三者或三者以上 。遇到類似情況時，許多學生頗感困惑，下面把between的用法加以簡單敘述 。
一、在涉及三個或三個以上的人或物，每二個之間的相互關系時，可以用between 。
1．表示在好幾件事物中的精確位置 。
Switzerland lies between France，Italy，Austria and Germany．
瑞士位于法、意、奧、德四國之間 。
2．表示某物的具體方位 。
My hometown lies between a river and mountains．
我的家鄉位于一條河和群山之間 。
3．表示國際關系(三國或三國之間的條約、盟約等)

Many decisions have been made between different countries．
不同的國家達成了許多決議 。
4．表示三個或三個以上的事物彼此間的差異、區別、矛盾或競爭關系時 。between常

二、表示三個或三個以上人和物的共同作用時，用between 。
1．表示合作或共同努力
Between the three classes they collected100 yuan to the poor girl．
他們在這3個班募集了100元給小女孩 。
2．表示由于…共同作用的結果 。
Between making beds，washing dishes，sewing and raising her children, she was kept busy．
鋪床、洗碗、縫補和帶孩子使她忙得不可開交 。
3．表示共有…
We have ten pens between us．
我們一共有十只鋼筆 。
The students had one classroom between them．

學生們共享一教室 。
三、在share，divide，distribute等動詞后幾個單數名詞前用between，在復數名詞前用among和between都可以 。
I divide my time between preparing for the class，teaching，and correcting the exercises．
我把時間分別用在備課、上課與批作業上 。
Mr Wang divides his money between his children．
王先生把錢分給了五個兒子 。
